I've got a Jaguar S type 3.0 V6. Had a problem with the plastic T pieces cracking up so replaced them with brass connectors, then I saw the plastic part on the top hose had a crack so replaced the top hose and at the same time, replaced the thermostat at the same time.

There has been a serious issue with the water pumps on the V8s, and if the V6 has the same pump then one must assume the issue will be there on the 3 litre cars. The obvious solution is to get the pump changed as soon as possible after buying the car, to get, (hopefully) the later pump which one assumes will have been sorted out. The other
